George J. Gonce Funeral Home began in 1951 in Brooklyn, founded by George and Marguerite Gonce. After running the Brooklyn branch for about 10 years, Mr. Gonce was approached by Monsignor Kelly, Pastor of St. Jane Frances Church, about the possibility of buying the old church rectory, since the parish had just built a new church and rectory. The Riviera Beach branch, first funeral home in Pasadena, was born.
After 50+ years in business, George and Marguerite retired in 2003, selling each branch to the next generation. Daughter Donna bought the original Brooklyn location, and son Greg the Riviera Beach branch. Still the same family, we function as distinct and separate entities, as I believe that in funeral service, smaller is better. We will always try to maintain the mom and pop atmosphere and personalized service to you. It is not our goal to be the Hyatt Regency of funeral homes, with their associated high prices; if you want that in a funeral home, these places are out there. Our mission is to remain loyal to those families we’ve served in the past, and those local folks within our community who entrust us with the care of their family member.
