Virgil A. Anderson, age 91, of Boscobel passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016. He was born on December 12, 1924 to the late Albert and Minnie (Schoellig) Anderson. Virgil married Millicent Kreul on October 27, 1952 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore, and they were married for over 50 years before she passed away in 2004. He ran the family farm for many years and later worked as a bookkeeper at Turner Construction. Virgil went on to work at Boscobel State Bank as a property appraiser and also worked as a land assessor. He loved spending time in nature by gardening, hunting, and fishing. One of Virgil’s true passions was visiting and spending time with his friends and family, and he will be missed dearly by those that knew him.
Virgil is survived by his son David Anderson; brother-in-law Donald (Barb) Kreul; and sisters-in-law Sharon Anderson and Shirley Kreul. He was preceded in death by his wife Millicent Anderson; brother Richard Anderson; sister-in-law Charlotte Kreul; and brother-in-law Carrol Kreul.
Visitation for Virgil will be held at the Kendall Funeral Home, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service for Virgil will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 208 Mary Street, Boscobel with Rev. Charles Koester officiating. An additional time of visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Virgil will be laid to rest at the Boscobel Cemetery.
Virgil was a kind man who was a friend to all.

I am very sorry for you and your family, David. It's never easy to lose a loved one, especially a mother or father. I never knew your dad but you shared a few stories recently. I hope some of our conversations helped you in the end. I am glad he is no longer suffering. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

David, Sorry to hear of your loss of your dad. I am so glad we got to see him last year after the Homer reunion. I am thinking of you and remembering the good times that we were neighbors. One of the crazy Curtis kids. Debbie

I didn’t know Virgil too well, but the few times that our paths crossed I found Virgil to be a good man with a good soul. I first met Virgil thru my wife. She had known him since she was a little girl growing up in Boscobel. Virgil was a hard worker with an outstanding work and moral ethic. Every year my wife and I could look forward to an Anniversary and Christmas card from him and birthday cards for each one of our kids. He may have thought these were little things, but it meant a lot to our family and for that I thank you Virgil. You touched so many lives and today we know that you have “extended your hand and touched the face of God.” May God Bless and keep you and provide comfort to your family during these difficult days ahead.

God has called another one of His children home to His eternal garden. Virgil will be busy catching up with his wife Millicent and all others who have gone to glory before him. Chuck remembers Virgil coming to Schwab farm to assess the value of their property. Virgil always had time to chat and tell a story or 2-----he had many to tell. Chuck's Mom would tell me that she and Virgil always had to share gardening tips. I, Sandy, have such fond memories of visiting Virgil the past 7 years as I worked on genealogy. What a treasure trove of memorabilia he had tucked away in boxes and in his memory. I regret that I didn't take more time to check in with him as I am sure I could have learned so many more things about the Schwab family.
My heartfelt condolences to you David at the loss of your Father. Be of good courage and strength and keep on gardening!
With Sympathy yet a smile because of my time spent with your Dad!

David, We were so sad to hear of your dad's passing. We stopped in to see him the weekend before his passing. He still had a sense of humor and dignity about him. I always liked when I was a child, when he would come over to our house and tell all kinds of stories. What a great memory for me. And he never missed a birthday or Christmas. I loved looking forward to receiving those cards. I am sure you have many memories of his stories. Treasure them and when times get rough, draw on those memories for comfort. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Charmin Andrews and family
