Sylvia J. Smith, 87, of Exeter, passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2017.
Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Camillo and Mary Lello Porfirio.
Sylvia worked in the cigar factory and garment industry at Star Garment and Del-Mar Fashions, Pittston, prior to her retirement.
She belonged to the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was a very religious and giving person to all she knew. She was an avid walker, often walking to Pittston to shop..
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Smith and brothers, Louis, Joseph, Frank and Alexander Porfirio and sisters Lucy LaBar, Rose, Regina, and Angeline Porfirio.
Surviving are her sister in law, Joan Porfirio, and nieces and nephews too numerous to count, of whom she thought the world of and of course her 2 dog girls, Lauren and Khloe.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10:00am from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday at 10:30am at Corpus Christi Parish, in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston with the Msgr. John Sempa, as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. John's Slovak Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9 until time of services at the funeral home.
