Music by The Piano Brothers

George A. Stanton, affectionately known as Dr. Stanton or "The Doctor", 66, of Tunkhannock, passed away at Scranton Regional Hospital on Sunday December 25, 2016, following a long illness.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late B. Lee and Ruth Harris Stanton.

George was a graduate of West Side Area Vocational Technical School.  During his life he became a jack of all trades doing everything from running Stanton Greenhouses to logging.  The most important thing in his life was being a brother, father, uncle and grandfather.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Lee J. Stanton and a sister Sunday L. Stanton.

He is survived by his sisters Donna and her husband Jack, Falls, and Gladys Lincoln , Harding .

His children, Jennifer Stanton, West Pittston, Lee Ann Stanton, Tunkhannock, George Stanton, West Wyoming, and Teresa Fox, Harding.
He also has step-daughters and anyone lucky enough to consider him a father.

Also his grandchildren Kyla, Madison and Kolton along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Saturday December 31, 2016 at 10:00am from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter with Ruth Liples, pastor, Mt Zion United Methodist Church in Harding.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 5:00 until 8pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Mountain View Burial Park, Harding.

George, along with his family, would  like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. McIntyre, Dr. Gilhooley, and the nurses and staff at regional hospital.

Also a special thank you to the ladies that George lovingly referred to over the years, as his "wives."  Your kindness to George will always be remembered.

This is one pair of boots that can never be filled.
