Paul A. (Papa) Laure, 87, of Inkerman, passed into eternal life on Saturday December 10, 2016 with his loving family at his side.
Born December 19, 1928, in Shantytown, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Krushnowski Laure and has been a life resident of the Pittston Area.
He was educated to the 8th grade leaving school to help provide for his family working in the local dress factories. He enlisted into the Army and upon completion of his duty he worked as a coal miner and various production plants including Muskin Pools and Atlas Chain of West Pittston. In his retirement he also worked as a part time Jenkins Twp. police officer.
He belonged to the Dupont Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Plains American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife the former Shirley Matonis and his brother Jospeh Laure.
Surviving are his children son, Paul and his wife Barbara Laure, Pittston Twp., Daughters Donna Berti and her husband Joseph, Inkerman and Diane Neary and her husband Gene, Acworth, Ga. He is also survived by his identical twin brother Peter Laure,Moosic and sisters Terri Shipula, Inkerman and Marie Currie, Fla.and grandchildren, Amy Saunders and Paul Laure and great granddaughter Abigail Saunders.
Paul loved his favorite baseball team the Philadelphia Phillies and his casino trips with his daughters. He was also an avid watcher of the classic western series and movies.
He will be remembered most of all as a loving, caring and devoted father who will be greatly missed. " Blessare are those who mourn for they will be conforted." Matthew 5:4
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Funeral services will be on Thursday at 9:00am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30am at the Corpus Christi Parish in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston with the Msgr. John Sempa, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, West Wyoming.
