Catherine ("Katie) King Gubbiotti, 92, of Inkerman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Celtic Inpatient Care Unit of Geisinger South Hospital, Wilkes-Barre with her loving family by her side.

Born in Sebastopol, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes ( Scott) King.  

Katie was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Pittston Hospital. She was a member of the Jenkins Township Little League Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Santino, sons Thomas and James, and a brother Eugene King and a sister Mary Agnes Schmaltz Hilgert.

Surviving are her daughter Mary Kay and her husband, James Sperling, Dallas, daughter in law, Patricia Gubbiotti, Laflin, and grandchildren, Denise Gubbiotti, Christine (Joseph) O'Boyle, Thomas (Rita) Gubbiotti , Mark (Star) Gubbiotti, Jamie Gubbiotti, Santina ( Travis) Wealand, Amy ( Brian) Flaherty; great grandchildren, Carmella and Joseph Gubbiotti, Ava Gubbiotti, and Elizabeth O'Boyle. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Marie (Ginger) and her husband Dominick Menta, along with many nieces and nephews.

Long known for her positive outlook on life, Katie never missed a  chance to say a kind word and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her family and many friends.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Funeral services will be at 9:00 am Wednesday  at the the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am in St. John the Evangelist Church, William St., Pittston.

Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Memorial donations may be made to King's College, 133 North River St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 18711, Attn: Institutional Advancement.
