Shirley A. Murphy, 79, of Exeter, passed away on Tuesday August 9, 2016 at her home.
Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Gozzo Gercak.
Shirley was a graduate of Exeter High School and was a member of St. Barbara Parish, Exeter.
She worked and volunteered at the Wyoming Valley West Schuyler Ave School as a special needs child care technician and was part of the foster grandparent program.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank J. Murphy in 1983 and brothers Robert and George Gercak.
Surviving are her children: Marie (John) Levandoski, Yellowstone, Wyoming and James ( Catherine) Murphy, Shavertown, also 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Sisters in law, Shirley Gercak, Exeter and Faith Gercak, Ct., nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 9am from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30am at St. Barbara Parish at St. Cecilia's Church, Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 5- 8 pm at the funeral home.

Dear Marie, Jim and families,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy at the loss of Shirley. I learned a life lesson at her passing. Life is too short and fragile and valuable to pull away from friends. I feel sadness, deep regret and loss.
