Frank P. Duzen, 93, of Exeter, passed away on Tuesday March 17, 2015 at the Wilkes-Barren General Hospital following a very brief illness.
His loving daughters were at his side.
Born and raised in Dupont, he was the son of the late Paul and Hedwig Cebula Duzen, the youngest of their seven children..
He attended Dupont schools, and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hannibal.
Frank was a faithful Catholic and a member of the former St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston. He was presently a member of St. Barbara Parish, Exeter. For many decades he attended the St. Alphonsus annual retreat.
He was formerly employed at the Atlas Chain & Cable, West Pittston, and later retired from the Luzerne County Building and Grounds.
He was preceded in death in 2011 by his loving wife of 64 years, the former Anna Vacula, brothers John, Joseph, Andrew, and sisters Mary Sefjack, Ann Grabowski, and Lottie Szajkowski.
Surviving are his daughters, Paula and her husband Frank Matthews, Swoyersville, Donna and her husband Ray Gustave, West Wyoming, grandchildren Darel Matthews and his wife Kellie, Mountaintop, Attorney Jill Matthews, Ashley, Hilary Gustave Browning and her husband William, Denver, Co., Ashley Gustave, Fairfax, Va., great grandchildren Nicholas and Natalie Matthews, and Madeleine Browning, and sister in law Valya Vacula, Exeter.
A special gratitude especially goes to his neighbors Ron Brockway and Jude Trzcinski for all their assistance and kindness thru the years.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 9:00am from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 9:30am at St. Cecilia Church ( St. Barbara Parish), Exeter with the Rev. Michael Finn, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. John the Slovak Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
