Elizabeth R. Martin, 86, formerly of Exeter passed away on Tuesday March 3, 2015 at the Smith Healthcare Nursing home, Mountain Top surrounded by her family.
Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret McNulty Rowan.
She was a graduate of St. Johns High School, Pittston and was a homemaker all of her life. A devout Catholic, she belonged to and was active at St. Cecilia’s Parish for over 50 years. She was also a member of Greater Pittston Women’s Club, St. Cecilia’s Alter Rosary Society, & Seton Catholic’s Women’s club. She served as a lunch mother at Wyoming Area Catholic for several years. In addition she was involved in various Heart Fund campaigns.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1996 and brothers; Thomas, Gerard, Edward Jr., William & Michael Rowan. Sisters; Marie Rowan, Doris Lavery, & Leola Delahunty.
Surviving are her children, Donald and his wife Jane, Duryea, William, Exeter, Roberta Sofa, Englewood, FL & Linda, MountainTop. Grandchildren; Christopher, Jeffrey, Bryan & Stephen Martin. And Jacqueline Flannery.
Great Grandchildren; Connor, Reagan, Lucy, Brycen, & Brody Martin. And Paige & Hailey Masesie. Also a sister Joan Haggerty, Exeter, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Monday March 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Church, St. Barbara Parrish, Wyoming Avenue, Exeter. With the Reverend Michael Finn, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Carverton.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the Smith Healthcare Nursing Home, MountainTop and Geisinger Healthcare along with Dr. James Bruno for their exceptional care of their mother.
