John Shission, 88, of Plains, passed away on Saturday December 27, 2014 at the Celtic Inpatient Unit Geisinger South Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Metro Shission.
He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre and had worked as an upholsterer for Nelson Manufacturing and also for Mid East Aluminum, Mountaintop.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Josephine Spinosi, and daughters, Lorraine and her husband Theodore Bozenko, Plains and Liz and her husband Blaise Mushinsky, Plains.
Grandchildren, Lisa Angelo, Amy Bozenko and Marie Mushinsky.
A great granddaughter Maria Angelo. Also brother Steve Shission, Kearney, N.J. and sisters Josephine Hizny, West Wyoming and Tessie Melani, New York.
Office of Christian burial with Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 695 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. James Hayer will officiate.
Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Visitation will be private.
