Mary A. Miano, 81, of Exeter, passed away on Sunday ,October 6, 2013 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Millie Licata Pepe.
Mary was a member of Corpus Christi Parish at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston.
She was a graduate of Exeter High School and received her undergraduate degree from Misericordia University as well as her Masters Degree from the University of Scranton.
Mary was a beloved elementary school teacher, having taught in The Wyoming Area School District for 40 years, where she also served as Principal for 5 years. She positively impacted the lives of countless students and colleagues.
Mary is survived by her caring brother Phil Pepe of Exeter, her daughter, Dyan Billal, her beloved Granddaughter Sofia both of Aliso Viejo, Ca. and Sofia's father Mancini Billal, daughter Denise Anastasio (Steven) of New York City and her dearest friend, Helen Rava, Duryea. Also many loving friends & relatives.
Those attending the funeral services on Thursday morning are asked to go directly to the church for a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave.,West Pittston. with the Rev. Joseph Pisaneschi, as celebrant.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, Pa.
Interment will be at the West Pittston Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Gena and Britney for their loving and compassionate care of Mary during her illness.

On behalf of my sister Arlene, my brothers Anthony and John, my son James and my dear Janet, we are deeply saddened on learning of our dear Aunt Mary’s passing. Aunt Mary has been in our prayers during her sickness and we forever hold dear memories of her as a caring person we will always love.
We convey our deepest sympathies to her brother Phil, her daughters Dyan and Denise, to her granddaughter Sophia and to all family members who grieve Aunt Mary’s passing. May she forever rest in peace and in the bosom of our dear Jesus Christ. Amen....

I want to extend to Mary's family and friends (especially Helen) our sorrow over Mary's passing. Mary will be missed by all who knew and worked with her. I hope that Mary's family and friends will find comfort in the well-wishes of so many who knew and loved Mary.
