Freda M. Doyle, 85, passed away on August 25, 2013 in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she had been visiting her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Joseph, her beloved daughter, Jennifer DiGiosa and her faithful companion of many years, her dog Sammy.
Freda was born on November 19, 1927 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter and granddaughter of immigrants from Lebanon. After the death of her father when she was 13, Freda moved with her mother and two sisters from Oklahoma to Wilkes-Barre. She went on to graduate from GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Freda became a kind and significant presence in the northeastern Pennsylvania antiques market and she for many years owned and operated Collector’s Corner, an antiques shop in Luzerne, Pennsylvania. She was known throughout the Wyoming Valley for her capability to effectively run estate sales and her love for flea markets and the discovery of antique treasures. Her other passions were her family and the wonderful Lebanese food that could be found in the Wilkes-Barre area.
Freda is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Smith (Robert) of Mehoopany, Pennsylvania and Diane Nelson (Daniel) of Scottsdale, Arizona, sisters Loretta Punko and Marion Dalkiewicz, both of Wilkes-Barre, grandchildren Marie DiGiosa, Tara Smith, Leigh Ann Mastrini and Louis Mastrini and numerous nieces and nephews. Her marriage to the late John Donald Doyle ended in divorce.
Freda’s family thanks wonderful staff at the non-profit Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona who lovingly and attentively cared for Freda during her final days. The support, kindness and compassionate care they provided to Freda and her family were deeply appreciated. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 10am until 11am on Thursday September 5,2013 at St. Andrew Parish, in St. Patrick's Church, 316 Parish St., Wilkes-Barre. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am with the Rev. James McGahagan, officiating.
Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Dear Diane,
After viewing the photos, I see the vast inheritance your mother has left you...the smile, the laughter, the heritage, the cooking skills and special recipes, the stamina for shopping and so much more. Being Freda's daughter has made you rich beyond words.

Dear Diane,
Your dear mother, Freda, led such a vibrant and interesting life. Her strong character and dedication lives on through you in so many wonderful ways. Hi Diane and Dan...so sorry to hear about Mom. You are the last of the four of us to lose their mom. How fortunate you have been to keep her the longest. I will remember Freda fondly. She will always remain with you in all those memories you have and all those funny stories over the years. She now joins our moms in watching out for us, still! Take care til we meet again!!

Although we never met Freda, you always spoke fondly of her. It was so fortunate that you were able to spend quality time with her in Arizona. I'm sure she loved it.

Dear Diane and Dan,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. The pictures of you Diane and your mother are wonderful. Great to be included. We both know how difficult it is to lose your mother regardless of health.
