Joseph P. ( Guffy) Lukash, 80, of Exeter, passed away on Wednesday January 18,2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Exeter, he was the son of the late Joseph, Sr.and Sarah Romani Lukash.
Joseph was a graduate of Exeter High School and was a member of St. Barbara Parish, Exeter.
He was a reservist with the National Guard.
Joseph had worked for Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Ga. and later had worked for 28 years as a Letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service, in Philadelphia and Pittston, Pa.
Upon his retirement, both he and his wife Rose ran a "Mom and Pop" Produce stand in Exeter for 9 years.
He loved gardening, and was very generous with sharing his garden's bounty.
Joseph was an avid sports fan, and loved his " Brooklyn Dodgers".
He was a member of St. Cecilia's Choir for over 30 years,and was Past president of the Holy Name Society of St. Cecilia's and belonged to various clubs.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years the former Rose Okraszewski, and children: Sally, and Joseph both of Exeter.
Also sisters RoseMarie ( Harold) Brennan, Saugus, Ma. and Gail Space, West Chester, Pa. and an uncle Frank Lukash, Exeter along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday at 9:30 at St. Barbara Parish, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 224 Memorial St., Exeter with the Rev. Michael Finn, as celebrant.
All those attending the mass are asked to go directly to the church .
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday from 6-8pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Interment will be private in St. John the Slovak Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.
