Ralph P. Amantea, 98, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at Mercy Center, Dallas
Born in Old Forge on July 3, 1918, he was the son of the late Saverio and Anna Maria Gilotti Amantea.

Ralph was a graduate of Old Forge High School Class of 1937.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and served his country in the European Theater with the Military Police Battalion. He was awarded Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle East Service Medal.

He began his sales career as a young man, traveling with his father by horse and buggy. He worked for various companies, having made his last sales calls this past Monday.

He was a member of St. Monica’s Parish, West Wyoming, the JFK Pittston Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, and the American Legion Post 0904, West Wyoming.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years , the former Lola Romagnani Amantea in 1997 and brothers Frank, Bruno, Sam, Johnny, and Joseph, and sisters Mary Graziano, Rosie Yaniello, Catherine Pietraccini Polak and Margaret Calabrese.

Surviving are his daughters, Denise Ohl, Wyoming, Sandra and her husband Keith Naylor, Pocono Lake, granddaughters Jessica and her husband Blythe Evans, Kingston, Meredith and her husband Peter Recek, Nanticoke and great granddaughter Blythe Violet Evans, also a sister Frances Larussa, Scranton and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 3pm until 6pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Military funeral honors will be accorded by the AmVets Honor Guard on Monday at 9:00am at the funeral home,  followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30am at St. Monica’s Parish, West Wyoming with the Rev. Leo McKernan, as celebrant.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

The family would like to thank all the physicians and health care workers who so kindly took care of our Dad with special thanks to Dr. James Butcofski, Dr. Ronald Nardell, Dr. John Carey and the entire staff of Mercy Center, Dallas for their outstanding and compassionate care.To quote our Dad,"Thanks for being nice to Ralph!"
