Joan Margaret Farkas, age 79, a resident of Pasadena for 53 years, passed away on December 10, 2017 after a prolonged illness.
She was born on July 1, 1938, in Baltimore, to the late Rose and Michael McMahon. She worked as professional homemaker for 60 years. Her joy came from being with her family, and cooking for them, especially her famous spaghetti and meatballs. She loved watching her grandchildren search the pantry, and would comment “What’cha huntin’ for babe?” During her free time, she enjoyed Saturdays with the girls, going to restaurants, and watching the birds at the bird feeder.
Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years: Robert “Bob” Farkas; her three loving daughters: Michele Sylvia and her husband Paul, Joanne White and her husband Rick, and Katie Gast and her husband Ty; her devoted son Rob and his wife Dawn; her four grandsons: Jason and his wife Lina, Andrew, Jamie, and Matthew; her two granddaughters: Danielle and Beth; and her great grandson Ethan.
Family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Thursday at 11 AM in St. Jane Frances Church. Her interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park. Feel free to express your condolences below.

To Bob and Family. I am very sorry for your loss. I am a friend of the Farkas Family. I remember when Bob and Joan were dating, I would see them at the Farkas house. They were so in love with each other! Joan was always so nice and very friendly and Bob was always nice and friendly. May she rest in Peace with our Lord. I prayer that our Lord helps you all through this time. God Bless you all.

My sincere condolences. Such a lovely woman...such a lovely family. I remember her spaghetti and meatballs! I also remember the day she pierced my ears! Lots of great memories at the Farkas house. May you all be comforted by all of your great memories, and may she rest in Peace.
