Mary Louise Becker, age 91, a resident of Pasadena for 18 years, and previously of Baltimore, passed at her home on August 14, 2017.
She was born on August 19, 1925, in Baltimore, to the late Mary Jane and John Fox, Sr. A graduate of St. Paul's Commercial College, she worked for the Department of the Army from January 1944 to November of 1959 where she was a Security Specialist (GS-7) for the Operations Division of the 109th CIC Group. She was located at Ft. Meade in Maryland. Mrs. Becker received dozens of awards for her performance and ability to handle extremely sensitive materials. She also received numerous cash awards for her performance. Her Commanding Officer stated: "Mrs. Becker undertakes her tasks cheerfully with determination and alacrity. She has tactfully advised the Commanding Officer on security matters affecting the command, outlining sound methods for improving security and maintain higher standards."
Mrs. Becker began to raise three children and then in September of 1971 she began a job as the secretary to the principal of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Baltimore. She worked at the school for 17 years while her children were attending school at St. Rose. She retired in 1990 to spend time with her husband.
Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years: John Edward Becker; her son John Edward Becker, Jr.; and her two brothers: John Fox, Jr. and James Fox.
She is survived by her daughter Renee Grace Fortman and her husband Gregory J. Fortman; her son Andrew Conrad Becker and his wife Hope; six grandchildren: Gregory J. Fortman, Jr. and his fiancee Christine Squires, Jamie L. Donnelly and her husband Tommy, Erin M. Fortman, Michelle Blount and her husband Eric, Brigitte Campfield and her husband Jason, and Andrew C. Becker; and six great grandchildren: Sean and Killian Fortman, Jaxson and Lilyana Donnelly, Trinity Becker, and Spencer Blount.
Family requests friends visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Her funeral service will begin on Friday at 10 AM, with Father Jude Okoye officiating. Her burial will follow in Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Crownsville. Feel free to express your condolences below.
