Josephine E. Brinn, 100 years old, passed away peacefully in hospice care on August 11, 2017 while holding the hand of her granddaughter, Michelle Brinn.
Josephine was born in Altoona, PA to Leonardo and Ermengilda Gioiosa. She completed her training as a registered nurse at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing over 75 years ago and began her nursing career at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Later in her career, at an age when most nurses have retired, Josephine was in charge of an entire wing at the Meridian Healthcare Facility. In all, she worked for over 60 years as a dedicated registered nurse.
She was an incredibly selfless, committed, and generous women who devoted her life to caring for her patients, to caring for her husband, William Riley Brinn, and to raising four sons, Leonard, Dennis, James and Paul.
She was an avid sewer and crocheter making a variety of afghans for family, friends and neighbors.
Josephine is survived by her loving family: Dennis and Roxanne Brinn and their daughter Michelle and her fiance Gavin Gunn of Pasadena, MD, James Brinn and his partner Diane Cosner of The Villages, FL, daughter-in-law Bernadette Brinn of Baltimore, MD, and granddaughter Miranda Means of Tamaqua, PA.
Family request friends visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, 21122 on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Her funeral service will begin on Wednesday at 11 AM.
