John Earl Watson, Jr. "Buck", age 82, a resident of New Church, Virginia for six months, and formerly a 57 year resident of Pasadena, died peacefully at his home on January 18, 2017 with his family at his side.
He was born on March 8, 1934, in Baltimore, to the late Harriet and John E. Watson, Sr. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Army, serving for four years in the Korean War, and served another year and a half with the Army National Guard of Maryland. He worked as a truck mechanic with Purity Products for 10 years, and with Penn Motor Company for 30 years. He enjoyed Ham Radio and Morse Code, and was a member of FAR, the Foundation for Amateur Radio; FISTS, the International Morse Preservation Society; and AARC, the Arundel Amateur Radio Club. He also enjoyed the guitar, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Along with his parents, Buck is preceded in death by his grandson Jason Albert Freburger, and his brother James "Jimmy" Watson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years: Beverly Margaret Watson; his loving daughter Deborah Ann Freburger and her husband Albert, of New Church, Virginia; his devoted son John Joseph Watson and his wife Tammy, of Myersville, MD; and two grandsons: Timothy John Watson, of Brunswick, MD, and Michael Joseph Watson, of Asheville, NC.
Family requests friends visit on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena. His funeral service will begin on Tuesday at 10 AM, with burial to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
