Homer John Hunter, "Skip" age 85, a resident of Pasadena for 60 years, and formerly of Pitcairn, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 22, 2016 after a brief illness.
He was born on May 17, 1930, in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania, to the late Florence Fritchman. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army, serving until October of 1951. He went on to business college, and worked for the Westinghouse Corporation as a project estimator until his retirement. During his free time he enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting.
Along with his Mom, Skip is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years: Bertha Hunter; and his son David Hunter.
He is survived by his two daughters: Bonnie Hunter, of New Hampshire, and Deborah Howard and her husband John, of Maryland; his son Bruce Hunter and his wife Lesley, of Maryland; daughter in law Paula Hunter, (David's wife) also of Maryland; six grandchildren: Michael Whitney, of New Hampshire, John Wayne Howard, Jr., of Maryland, Christine and Becky Hunter, also of Maryland, Rachael Lovely, of New Hampshire, and James Page, of Arizona; and two great grandchildren: Hunter Smet, and Lillian Lovely, of New Hampshire.
The family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. The procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Friday to go to St. Jane Frances Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. His burial, with military honors, will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, following Mass. Feel free to express your condolences here as well.
