Doris Lorraine Szuba, age 86, a resident of Riviera Beach for 60 years, and formerly of Brooklyn Park, passed on June 28, 2015 at her home after a six month illness.
She was born on October 7, 1928, in Baltimore, to the late Anna and Edward Johnson. After graduating from Glen Burnie High School, she married and became a homemaker and mom; raising six children. A member of the Poplar Ridge Senior Center, and the St. Jane Frances Sodality, she enjoyed bowling, travelling, crocheting, talking on the phone, eating pickles, and baking, especially her Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
Along with her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years: Carl F. Szuba; and her loving son Robert.
She is survived by her two daughters: Barbara Fischer, of Massachusetts, and Rosemarie Collins, of Linthicum; three sons: Michael, of Pasadena, Carl, of Riviera Beach, and Francis, of Delaware; two sisters: Helen of Pennsylvania, and Gloria of Ferndale; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. On Wednesday, her Funeral Liturgy Service will be celebrated at 2 PM in St. Athanasius Church. Her interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to the St. Athanasius Church, the Providence Center, or to the Alzheimer's Association, and feel free to express your condolences here as well.

My dear wonderful neighbors. We feel your sorrow but also embrace the joy and wonderful times we shared growing up on church rd in riviera beach. The memories and great upbringing our parents gave to all of us is a gift cherished for our lifetime. We are lucky to have had such a wholesome childhood thanks to our moms and dads. Dear Barb and Family,
We both want to tell you how sad we are that you have suffered this loss, we know how it feels personally having lost our parents too. We all have to keep all the memories alive and with us, that is something we will always have. She loved each and every one of you, and you carry her with you every day of your lives. She went Home to a husband she missed, and her dear son too. Her trials have ended now, and is with God, and in the peace her poor ill body needed.
