Mary Elizabeth Unger, age 93, a resident of Orchard Beach for 55 years, and formerly of Baltimore, passed on June 7, 2015 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a ten year illness.
She was born on May 28, 1922, in Baltimore, to the late Anna Teresa and Francis Raysinger. After graduating from Seton High School, she went on to work for Halls Motor Company for 30 years as an office clerk; as a substitute teacher for Baltimore City Schools for 6 years; and as a receptionist for Doctor McGlaughlin for 6 years. She enjoyed crochet, reading, cooking, travel, and, of course, spending time with her family, especially pool activities with the kids.
Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years: Charles Gordon Unger; two sisters: Angela Rizzo and Dorothy Reeder; her brother Francis Joseph Raysinger; and her son Joseph Edward Unger, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Carlita Unger, of Orchard Beach; her daughter in law Joyce Unger, of Pasadena; her sister Dolores Eckerl, of Orchard Beach; her granddaughter Teresa Unger, of Perry Hall; her grandson Joseph Unger, of Pasadena; and two great granddaughters: Lauren and Erin Unger, both of Pasadena.
Family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. On Thursday, the procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM to go to St. Jane Frances Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Her interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
