Gertrude C. Smith, "Trudy" age 91, a resident of Pasadena for 64 years, passed at her home on December 10, 2014 after suffering briefly with cancer.
She was born on September 26, 1923, in Baltimore, to the late Gertrude and Joseph W. Miller. After attending Seton High School for three years, she moved to Pittsburgh where she graduated from Holy Ghost High School. She went on to marry and become a homemaker and mother of four children, and worked for a brief time for the utility company in Pittsburgh. A 30 year member of St. Jane Frances Prayer Group, she was also a member of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry at the Church of the Crucifixion, and the Merry Widows. She enjoyed watching figure skating, reading, prayer, her faith and her family.
Trudy is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years: Francis "Smitty" Smith, Jr; and her son Francis W. "Bill" Smith, III.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Mucelli; her two sons: Michael Smith, Sr. and his wife Janet, and Gary C. Smith; her daughter in law Debra Smith; four grandchildren: Michelle and her husband Arthur, Trish and her husband Bradley, Michael, Jr. and his wife Holly, and Megan; and five great grandchildren: Ethan, Hudson, Terry III, Michael III, and Sarah.
Family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Church of the Crucifixion on Tuesday at 11 AM, with her interment to follow in Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Crownsville. We were so sorry to hear of your passing so soon after our visit at Thanksgiving. We loved having that wonderful time together, great memories. God had his hand in our trip to Maryland he knew we must go and see you not knowing then it would be our last.We will miss you so much. Aunt Carolyn, Uncle Mike and Uncle Gary we are so sorry for your loss and we will be praying for you all down here in Florida. We love you Michelle, Arthur Ethan and Hudson Porter
