Shirley Jean Smith Rodrigue, age 81, a resident of Orchard Beach for over 50 years, died at her home, surrounded by her family, on October 14, 2014.
She was born on December 19, 1932, in Everett, Pennsylvania, to the late Ethel Marie and Glen Clifford Smith, and was also raised by her stepmother Frances Smith. She married and became a homemaker and mother of seven children. She enjoyed Atlantic City trips; playing slots, cards, and bingo; camping, girl weekends, and family activities.
Along with her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years: Armand Lawrence Rodrigue; and two sons: Lawrence and Robert Rodrigue.
She is survived by her four daughters: Shirley Steele, of Pasadena, Linda Dellinger, of Joppa, Yvonne Aro, of Pasadena, and Peggy Helwig, of Ellicott City; her son Glen Rodrigue, of Windsor Mill; her two sisters: Patricia Duncan, of Woodstock, and Libby Hullihen, of Baltimore; 16 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Family requests friends visit on Sunday at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Her funeral service will begin on Monday at 11 AM. Her burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Feel free to express your condolences here as well.
