Joseph John Brockmeyer, Jr., age 81, a resident of Pasadena for 56 years, died on April 1, 2013 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
He was born on September 5, 1931, in Baltimore, to the late Caroline and Joseph J. Brockmeyer, Sr. He attended St. Andrew’s Catholic School in Baltimore, and Mergenthaler Vocational School where he studied bricklaying in order to build his own home. In his early years he learned to play trumpet as a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. For 19 years he worked at Albert F. Goetze, and for seven years at Locke Insulators, finally retiring from Proctor and Gamble after 15 years. A founding father of the Buccaneers Athletic Club, having served as it’s treasurer, he was also active as a member of the Northeast High School Boosters Club, where he constructed the school’s first concession stand. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, baking, music, visiting his property in West Virginia, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was known for his words “If you stand and gaze at the sun, your life’s work will never get done.”
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 25 years: Mildred K. Brockmeyer; his brother Michael Brockmeyer; and three sisters: Margaret Bruns, Elaine Amrhein, and Josephine Bruns.
He is survived by his son Joseph J. Brockmeyer, III and his wife Debbie, of Pasadena; two daughters: Carolyn Brockmeyer MacIsaac and her husband Donnie, of Glen Burnie, and Jeanne Abey and her husband Don, of Pasadena; four grandsons: Joseph J. Brockmeyer, IV and Justin Brockmeyer, both of Baltimore, and Donnie Abey, III and Zach Abey, both of Pasadena; and one granddaughter Jessica Brockmeyer Ellis and her husband Mason, of Odenton.
Family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. His funeral service will commence on Saturday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Feel free to express your condolences here as well.

Joe was a great guy.And we are privliged to have known him.We can only remember goods times with joe.Ill always remember joe wearing his trademark cap.Joe would either say ,lets go fishing,or lets go get a beer.He's a one of a kind guy that will be missed by all.

Joe was my neighbor in Pasadena for many years, he was always there to help a neighbor out , What a great person he will be missed by all.

Joe, Carol and Jeeny,
I remember Mr. Joe as a kind and sweet man, from when I was just a child and when I worked at 3 B' Bakery. He always had a smile on his face......when he came in to get a newspaper. I know he will be missed.
