He was born on August 20, 1958, in Baltimore, to Margherita and the late John Raight Griffith. He graduated from St. Jane Frances Elementary and Cardinal Gibbons High School, and worked for the G. W. Pope Wood Floors Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, Ravens and Orioles games, boating, fishing, crabbing and drinking beer.

Just wanted to express my sincere sympathy. I will remember Griff as being one of the most pleasant guys I ever knew - he always had a smile on his face and never failed to say hello when we would run into each other out and about. Thanks for being a good friend Griff and thanks also for hosting some great 4th of July parties! You will be missed.

I am so sorry to here about Griff's passing, especially some 3 months after it happened. Griff was a very special person to all he met, with a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. We used to hang out at the bar next to the fire station, it was called Zekes than and we had a great time drinking our beer and shooting pool. Griff you will be greatly missed by your friends and family. My sincerest condolences to his family. Rest in peace John and be with the Lord.
