Edith Lorraine Dewling (nee Moynihan), “Edie” a Riviera Beach resident for the past 60 years passed away peacefully with her family by her side just days before her 92nd birthday, October 15th, 2018.
Edie was born in Portsmouth, VA on October 19, 1926, to the late Maurice S. Moynihan and late Grace M. Moynihan (nee Ozment). She met her husband, the late Charles L. Dewling Sr. of South Baltimore, while they were working at the U.S. Navy Ship Yard in Norfolk, VA. They were married for 49 years. They returned to Pasadena, MD to raise their family.
Edie is survived by son, Charles L. Dewling Jr and his wife, Sandra of Glen Burnie, MD, son, Stan Dewling of Pasadena, MD, daughter, Lori Ruszin and her husband Tom of Pasadena, MD, daughter, Mary Clifford of Annapolis, MD and son, John Dewling and his wife, Anita of Pasadena, MD. Grandchildren: Charles L. Dewling, III, Lisa Darrah(Mark), Rachel Dewling, Tom Ruszin(Jessi), Christine Hautala(Chris), Robert Ruszin, Ryan Clifford, Kathryn Pfefferkorn(Lucas), John Dewling Jr., Tyler Dewling, and Lyndsey Dewling; Great grandchildren: Luke Darrah, Madi Darrah, Tucker Ruszin and Adelaide Pfefferkorn.
Edie was a homemaker who provided a warm and nurturing life for her family. She was a devout Catholic and a devoted member of St. Jane Frances DeChantel Parish. She was a member of the Sodality and Sanctuary Societies and volunteered at countless church and school events and Our Daily Bread.
Edie was a member of the ATNOS. She felt blessed to be part of this social group that was comprised of life-long friends who raised their families together, vacationed together and supported one another throughout their lives.
Her joys and hobbies include reading, bowling, bingo, dancing and playing cards.
Family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM, and Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. There will be a final visitation on Saturday morning from 10:30 until 11:30 AM, at which time the procession will leave the funeral home to go to St. Jane Frances Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 Noon, with Monsignor Carl Cummings officiating.
