William Edward Schuman, III, age 80, a resident of Riviera Beach for 43 years, and previously of Baltimore, passed away on August 31, 2018 after a long illness.
He was born on June 27, 1938, in Baltimore, to the late Gertrude and William Schuman, Jr. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1958 until 1962, earning the good conduct and sharpshooter medals. After the service, he remained active as a member of the US Naval Institute, the American Legion, and the USS Little Rock Association. He worked with the IUEC Local #7 as an elevator mechanic for more than 28 years. During his free time he enjoyed collecting trains and lighthouses.
Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his son in law Stephen C. Trageser.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years: Pat Fraley Schuman; his loving daughter Kimberly A. Trageser, of Riviera Beach; his devoted son William E. Schuman, IV and his wife Julie; of Grasonville; his grandson Philip Schuman, of Chestertowne; his three granddaughters: Katlyn Zecchin, of Easton, and Rebecca and Noelle Trageser, both of Riviera Beach; his great granddaughter Mackenzie; his brother Dennis Schuman, of Linthicum; his sister Jean Montgomery, of Port Orange, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in laws.
Family requests friends visit the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM. His funeral service will begin on Wednesday at 11 AM at the funeral home, with Father Tim Dore officiating.
