Betty (BJ) Jeannette (Miller) Tarlton, 83, of Leeds AL for 38 years and previously of Pasadena, died peacefully September 10 after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
She was born August 21, 1934, in Jenners Crossroads, PA to the late Noah Daniel Miller and Arline (Martin) Miller Shumaker. She moved to Pasadena, MD in 1940, returning for one year to Boswell PA for her senior year at Jenner Boswell Joint High School.
She and her late husband owned two businesses in Leeds, AL (Windowcraft, Inc. & The Kesler Co.) from 1993 to 2015. She enjoyed bowling (tenpins and duckpins), camping, Nascar and collecting dolls and beanie babies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband of 56 years, Edward Sterling Tarlton, Sr, her stepfather, Curtis L. Shumaker and her sister, Sara Jane (Miller) Criss.
She is survived by her son, Edward S. Tarlton, Jr. of Alabama; two daughters, Betty J. Tarlton of Virginia and Deborah A. (Tarlton) Gentile of Maryland; brother, Robert W. “Butch” Miller of Pasadena; six grandchildren: Edward A. Seal, John M. Adams, Misty D. Jordan, Edward S. Tarlton III, Tony L. Gentile and Amanda R. Gentile; and ten great-grandchildren.
Family requests friends visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Monday from 12 Noon until 2 PM, at which time the procession will leave to go to Glen Haven Memorial Park for a graveside service. Feel free to express your condolences below.
