Margaret E. Mattson, a resident of Pasadena for 32 years, and previously of Rosedale, passed away on September 9, 2017 after a brief struggle with lung cancer.

She was born on February 5, 1925, in Baltimore, to the late Lillian and John G. Spahn, Sr. She worked at Hertz Pharmacy for ten years and was active with St. Jane Frances Ladies Sodality, the VFW Womens Auxiliary, and the Democratic Club. She enjoyed bingo, travel, crocheting, sewing, and bowling.

Along with her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years: Matthew J. Mattson, Jr.; and her brother John G. Spahn, Jr.

She is survived by her loving daughter June E. Mattson, of Hyattsville; and her devoted son Kenneth V. Mattson, of Pasadena; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.

Family invites friends to visit at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM, at which time the procession will leave the funeral home to go to St. Jane Frances Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 AM,  with Monsignor Carl Cummings officiating.
