John Julius Brown, Sr. "Big John" age 75, a resident of Pasadena, died on January 5, 2015 at his home.
He was born on December 17, 1939, in Baltimore, to the late Evelyn Margaret and Julius Frank Brown. He served in the US Sixth Army, 124th Battalion, Company B during the Vietnam era; and after his honorable discharge in 1965, he went on to work as a tugboat engineer for 45 years. A longtime member of the American Legion, he always enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his three sisters: Delores Perseghin, Diane Mancuso, and Jeanie Harper; and his brother Cliff Brown.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years: Mary Anna Brown; his son John J. Brown, Jr.; his daughter Angela Cathy Heck, all of Pasadena; his sister Evelyn Baier; his brother James Brown, both of Dundalk; and his brother in law Dave Perseghin.
Friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena. On Friday, the procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM to go to a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, with Monsignor Carl Cummings officiating.
