Julia Dorothy Voelker, age 82, a resident of Pasadena for 70 years, died on April 15, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after battling cancer for three years.
She was born on November 25, 1931, in Baltimore, to the late Clara and Ambrose Vogt. After graduation, she went on to work for the US Coast Guard as a civilian employee doing inventory control. She enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino; loved the sun, boating and fishing; and loved to gather with friends and family, especially her grandchildren John and Jake.
Along with her parents, Julia is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years: Joseph Voelker; and her son Buddy Voelker.
She is survived by her loving daughter Melissa Betzel, of Pasadena; two grandsons: John Betzel, of Pasadena, and Jakob Betzel, of Denver; and two nieces: Kim Schorback, of Pasadena, and Julie Hutt, of Hawaii.
Family requests friends visit on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12 Noon, with Rev Milt Zahn officiating. After the service, the funeral procession will leave for the committal service in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
