Frederick William Strauss, Jr., age 77, a resident of Pasadena for 49 years, died on September 9, 2013, at his home.
He was born on July 30, 1936, in Baltimore, to the late Catherine L. and Frederick William Strauss, Sr. After graduating from Mt St Joseph High School in 1955, he served in the US Army, and continued his education later in life, obtaining his associates degree from Anne Arundel Community College in 1984. He worked as a seafood buyer for the A&P grocery store for 20 years, and for another 20 years for the Safeway Store. He served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, and Religious Education Teacher. He also volunteered as a football and basketball coach for the Buccaneers Athletic Club, and as a little league coach, umpire, and pin trader.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years: F. Suzanne Strauss; two sons: Frederick W. Strauss, III, of Millersville, and Steven B. Strauss of Severn; three daughters: Wendy S. Badwak, of Pasadena, Connie L. Danna, of Phoenix, and Lisa M. Schumacher, of Locust Grove, VA; two brothers: Donald T. Strauss, of Port Charlotte, FL, and John P. Strauss, of Catonsville; his dear friends Gail and Bruce Smith, of Baltimore; and seven grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena. After a brief visitation from 9 AM to 10 AM, the procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 10 AM to go to St. Jane Frances Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park. Those who wish may contribute to St. Jane Frances Church, and feel free to express your condolences here as well.
