Theresa Helen Matanoski, age 84, a resident of Riviera Beach for 55 years, passed away on July 25, 2013 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born on September 18, 1928, in Baltimore, to the late Ida and Michael Henry Korzybski. After high school, she went to work with USF&G for about five years, then married and raised two daughters. She spent many years cooking for the nuns in the St. Jane Frances Convent, and most recently, worked at harbor hospital as a dietary assistant for about seven years. Theresa was a member of the St. Jane Frances Seniors, the Ladies Sodality, TOPS, and did volunteer work in the school kitchen. A skilled artist, she enjoyed oil painting and other forms of art, collecting dolls, cooking and baking, Ocean City, the beach and the sun, and ice skating.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years: Melvin Joseph Matanoski, and her sister Hedwig Miara.
Theresa is survived by her two daughters: Christine Folmer, of Pasadena, and Michele Long of Severna Park; her grandson Ryan Folmer and his wife Rebecca; two great grandsons: Aidan and Gavin Folmer, all of Aberdeen; her brother Michael Korzybski; and her granddog Madison, of Severna Park.
The family requests friends visit on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, PA, 169 Riviera Drive, Pasadena. Her funeral service will commence on Tuesday at 11:30 PM, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
