Jo Ann Grumbine, 94, of Trenton, MO, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 in Kansas City, MO.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.
Jo Ann Grumbine was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Ben and Belle Shotwell. After High School she served in the United States Army during WWII. On March 25, 1950 she was united in marriage to Nathan Grumbine in Farmington, NM. He preceded her in death in 1996. They lived in Venezuela for 10 years before moving to Jamesport, MO from 1965 until 1972 when they moved to Trenton. Jo Ann worked as a long time employee for the Gable’s Restaurant in Trenton.
Jo Ann is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Those preceding her in death include her parents and husband.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Green Hills Animal Shelter and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Open visitation will begin Tuesday morning.

I am Sandra Vencill's daughter. I just found out about JoAnn's death tonight about 9pm. I am so sorry. If I would have known sooner, I would have brought my mom to the graveside service or dropped by Resthaven to pay our respects.
Both my mom and I thought the world of JoAnn. We have missed her since she left the Sunnyview Apartments and moved to Kansas City. Mom enjoyed being her table mate and friend for the past 3-4 years.
They had so many good visits over meals. Mom felt a great responsibility to get JoAnn to the dining room on time for every meal. Truthfully, it was the blind leading the blind, but my Mom has always been a caregiver, and she has continued that even though her own health has declined in recent years.
JoAnn was such a sweet person and had the best stories to tell about the olden days. My husband grew up on a farm near where JoAnn lived in Jamesport and remembered JoAnn and Nathan having a pet deer that they tied a bow around his neck during deer season so that no hunters would shoot him.
She loved it when I took my dog, Marley, to the apartments to see her. She never failed to ask about Marley every time that I saw her.
Fly high, JoAnn!! You will be missed by all who knew and loved you!!
