my brother and I came to know George through the horse business. A true character if there ever was one. Upon learning of George's passing, Shawn and I recalled the time we showed up at his house, looking for some registration papers for a horse we had bought. George retrieved a large box full of registration papers, asking what color we wanted our horse to be while wearing a pair of dark, horn-rimmed glasses with rhinestones on them that were clearly owned by some woman back in the 50s. Great men like him are leaving us, leaving this world a lesser place. Sorry for the loss.

Dear Beverly, Mike and Family and Pam :
We are so very sorry for your loss. There is no easy way to say goodbye to someone we love so much. But memories of George are so important at this time especially fun memories. We go back to the 1950's when George would pick up our milk when we were Dairy Farmers. One special memory is the day our daughter Kathy was born. George came by to pick up the milk and my husband (Donald Lake) was trying to finish the milking so he could get me/ Betty to the hospital in Brookfield which was a good long drive. Donald was trying hurriedly to finish the job until George said "Donald get out of here and get Betty to the hospital". Needless to say we barely made it, but, only by the grace of God after we encountered a flat tire and a lot of help from George.

Our community has lost a great one. George was a true friend and we will miss him. Jerry and Casey have many fond memories of hauling horses to Texas for George. We bought several horses from George and we always knew the answer when we asked how old the horse was. His answer was always the same, "oh, he'd have to be about 5". What a true cowboy and a dying breed.
