Evelyn Frances Lane Simmons
Of Peabody, formerly of Everett and Melrose passed away Nov. 11, 2005 at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem MA. She was 84 years old. Former wife of Lucious Montreat Simmons. Daughter of the late Alvera B. Lane and William H. Lane. Born in Everett she danced and entertained the troops at the USO's as one of the Darling Sisters in the '40's. She also sang and played the guitar with her mother Alvera Lane as one of the Lane Sisters. She leaves behind her 5 children, Beverly Doherty of Bradford, Janet of Peabody, Mark of Exeter, NH, Elaine Walker of Atkinson, NH and Bradford of Peabody. Also survived by 6 grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be very much missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyn's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 25 Stuart St., Boston, MA 02114-4700. A prayer service will be held Wednesday Nov. 16, 11 am at The Salvatore Rocco and Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., EVERETT, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to visit beginning at 9:30 AM. A graveside service will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery, Everett.
