Dear Debbie and Phil, Jr., My heart goes out to you both. I completely understand how difficult this time is for the both of you. Regardless of what may have been, losing a parent is a tough thing to go thru. His name will live on because of the good person he was and a great police officer in this city. He was my father's partner for a few years. Now they are together. All I can say is take a deep breath, the next few days will be tough. Deb, I'm here if you need ANYTHING. Keep the good memories with you and never forget. Sending you both big hugs.
Terri, Deepest condolences. He was a good man. Sending you hugs at this time.

The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

I am truly saddened to hear of the passing of Philip. He was my fathers cousin and I do not know much about the Philip except times I met him at my grandmother's (His Aunt) house in Carlisle Ma. After reading all the Condolences and Facebook ( Everett PD) He took his profession seriously and served his country with honor. Philip was good man and will be missed by many.

Terri, Miriam and I were stunned to hear of the passing of Phil. It just seemed so sudden and unexpected for us that we were just baffled by the news. Miriam just lost her Mother 4 weeks ago, so we have a good idea of what you may be going through. Now being alone must be terrible but consider that Phil now has no pain, no concerns about what doctors will say or do, and I am sure that he will be with you as he said he would. So please take comfort and if there is anything we can do to help please let us know.
Love Richard and Miriam
