JOHNSTON, Robert (Red) W. Sr. Of Everett formerly of Charlestown, August 1, 2014 at age 82. Cherished husband of 58 years to Lillian (Shappe). Loving and proud father and patriarch to his four children Patrick, Robert Jr, Maureen and Kathleen and their spouses, Jayn, Elaine, Richard and Steven. Treasured grandfather to Jordan and Lindsey, Annie, Steven and Daniel. Son of the late Patrick and Mary (Ayers). Devoted brother to Jack, Fred, Lillian Carideo, Rita and Paul (all pre-deceased). Much loved by the Shappe Family. Dear uncle to his loving nieces and nephews. Red was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean War, a US Postal Letter Carrier for 38 years and upon retirement worked at Osco/Rite Aid in Everett for 17 years. He was the last of his family's generation and will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., EVERETT, MA, Wed., August 6 from 3-7 PM, complimentary valet parking will be available at funeral home. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Silver Fox Restaurant, 530 Second St., Everett.
