Jerry D. Smith Sr., 66, of Shelbyville died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at his home.
Born Oct. 23, 1943, in Decatur County, he was the son of Raymond A. and Leona L. (Manning) Smith. He married Charlotte Miller, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Eddie Willliams and Tim A. Smith, both of Shelbyville, Todd Harter of Indianapolis, Lonnie Williams and Jerry Dwight Smith Jr., both of Columbus, and Kevin Smith; daughters, Lana Williams and Tammy Smith, both of Columbus, and Tracy Lockett of Greenfield; brother, Jeryle Smith of Virginia; sister, Kathy Neal of Morristown; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith Quick.
Mr. Smith was the powerhouse supervisor for the Indiana Masonic Home for 17 years. He previously had owned and operated Hope Greenhouse in Hope.
He had received certifications in water treatment and distribution.
Mr. Smith was a member of Fraternal Order of Free Mason Nineveh Lodge No. 317 F&AM, American Water Works Association and the Association of Power Engineers.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, followed by Masonic rites, at the funeral home, with Todd Harter and Chuck Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County, 425 E. Washington St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Mammy where should I start,Well 25 years ago you and Pappy were Jerry and Charlotte Never realized down the road I would love you so much I miss my Pappy may he always be comfotable and pain free and he better watch out they can kick him outta heaven if he gives The All Mighty any crap I will love you for ever and ever I made Pappy a promise that I would take care of you and Aubby and that baby boy Love You
