When Mom died June 4, 1998, all I could focus on was how she died...what she died of, ovarian cancer, that she had fought for 5 years. She had a beautiful way of looking at even that - She would say "I'm not dying of cancer, I'm learning to live with cancer". She taught all of us around her many valuable lessons about how precious each day is and how important it is to tell those around you how much you love them.

After the initial raw pain of grief, I was able to look at more how Mom lived and not focus so much on how she died.

The way Sadie lived was that she enjoyed people, hearing all about who they were, their hopes and dreams, their goals, their regrets - the stories of their lives. She loved her 3 daughters: Ann, Sheila and Loretta. She loved her husband Edward deeply and her son-in-law Greg was the son she never had - they had some kind of on-going joke that wouldn't quit. Her grandchildren were like the sun, moon and stars to her - so special, unique and beautiful. Cara, Stuart and Briana could not do anything wrong in her eyes.

Sadie was a wonderful Mom, a great loving wife, the best grandma, she was a registered nurse, a friend to many, a treasure in my heart because love never dies.

TO HONOR MY MOM, SADIE: We have named our shop "Sadie's Keepsakes" to help keep her memory alive.

- Sheila Parks

Sadie's Keepsakes is located inside our funeral home and is open to the public Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. We carry a variety of gifts and keepsakes.
