FORTNEY, Arthur “Red”, age 90 formerly of West Alexandria, OH. passed away suddenly Wed. Sept. 19, 2018 in Sidney. He was born in Greensburg, IN. on April 3, 1928 to Daniel and Virgie (Flory) Fortney. He was a graduate of West Alexandria High School and graduated from barber school in Cincinnati. He was an Army veteran, served in Korea and earned a Purple Heart. At one time he was on the auxiliary police department of the village. He was a member of West Alexandria Church of the Brethren and had served on many offices including deacon and usher. He was a barber in West Alexandria for over 40 years. Mr. Fortney moved to Sidney, OH. in 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha in 2006. He is survived by three children, Jenny (Lou) Sherman, Botkins, OH., Mark (Mary) Fortney, Wentzville, MO., Jill Fortney, Beavercreek, OH., 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at West Alexandria Church of the Brethren with Rev. Brody Rike officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, OH. is in charge of arrangements.
