The ranks of the old neighborhood may be thinning, but the memories are strong. It is sad to lose those we love, but it is important to remember how blessed we were in the time we had together and in how much we loved and were loved by those around us.  What fun we all had!

Dear Cousins,
I am so very, very sorry to learn of Iris's passing.  I fondly remember meeting her and going to her home in 2003.  I had looked forward to getting back some day, to spend more time with my distant family.  Iris was so sweet and so lively.  I think of her as a bright light.  I wish you peace.
Melissa (Irene's granddaughter, Cousin Ann's daughter)

As Deb Stenner said, I agree it was such a great neighborhood growing up.  I don't remember Iris as much as the others from growing up but sure do remember her in our Blue River area.  Always happy and smiling with a heart of gold.  I know she suffered through some very tough times but was also waiting for the day she could see those loved ones she lost.  We all should be glad for the time we have here and hold on to the memories.  God bless all those mourning now.

We send our thoughts and prayers to all of you at this sad sad time. We were blessed with MANY hugs and smiles of happiness from Iris since our return to the area. She is a treasured jewel and will be remembered by many for her unselfish heart and love of her family, friends and Lord and Savior. God's garden is more beautiful now because His Iris has come home! May God's strength and comfort be yours always.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom.  Seems not that long ago we were all on the farms of the old Homer Neighborhood growing up.  Time passes so quickly it seems.  I will, as all others with messages here, remember your Mom with a gracious smile and a hearty laugh.  May these wonderful qualities and the many fond memories you have see you through this difficult time.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

It was an honor to meet Grandma Iris at David & Cindy's home last summer.  Her genuine faith and love for people was a beautiful outpouring of Christ-like love.  She is in His presence now.  Praying God's peace, comfort and strength to cover all of you.

Hi Mike, Tracy and Darla.
I can't tell you how sorry I was to hear about your mom.  Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.  It does seem like yesterday we were all kids and at Homer. We do have a few stories to tell.  Where does the time go.  I will always have fond memories of your mom. She had a smile for everyone and was loved by many.
Take care and remember all the good memories.
Charmin

My mom and dad, Anne and Lawrence Hopkins, met Iris when they were stationed at the Army Depot in Granite City, IL in the 1950's and mom and dad visited them several times when they moved back home. Mom died in 2010 of Alzheimers and dad had a stroke in 2013. But we kept in touch through Christmas cards. I was so sad to hear of Iris' death. My thoughts are with the family.
