Mabel C. Stadele, age 95, of Thousand Oaks, California and formerly of Boscobel, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Westlake Health Care Center in Westlake Village, California. She was born March 3, 1917 in Castle Rock Township, Grant County, Wisconsin to Charles and Louise (Rasque) Yanna. On August 28, 1946, she married Clement Stadele at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2005. Mabel is survived by a son Gary (Lisa) Stadele of Fort Collins, Colorado and three daughters: Judy (Frank) Friar of Baraboo, Vicky Stadele of Thousand Oaks, California and Kathy (Glenn) Griswold of Mazomanie. She has 8 grandchildren: Julie (Chris) Corrigan, Sara Friar, John Friar, Charlie Stadele, Billy (Nicole) Stadele, Nicole (Eric) Kerschen, Eric Griswold, Kara Griswold and 6 great-grandsons. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Harry and LeRoy), and an infant sister.
After attending cosmetology school in Madison, Mabel worked as a beautician in Hillsboro. In 1938, she opened her own shop in Boscobel, which she continued to operate until 1950. In 1956, Clem and Mabel moved to a farm on Hwy 133 east of Boscobel where they operated Stadele’s Turkey Farm. Mabel continued to live on the farm until 2007 when she moved to California to live with her daughter, Vicky. Mabel was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed painting with oils and created many beautiful landscapes.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday March 24, 2012 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel with burial in the Boscobel Cemetery, Father Peter Auer officiating.
