Donna M. Straka, 74, of Boscobel, Wisconsin, formerly of Hazel Green and Wauzeka, died Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Boscobel Care and Rehab in Boscobel. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011, at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel with Pastor Stan Pegram officiating. Burial will be in the Wauzeka Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may also call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Donna was born on February 18, 1937, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur James Sr. and Minnie (Crooks) Birkett. Donna married John M Straka on June 13, 1987. Donna worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Hazel Green Hospital and the Galena Strauss Nursing Home.
Donna was active in the Methodist Church in Hazel Green, Wauzeka and Boscobel. She was also a member of the Lions and American Legion Auxiliary in Wauzeka. She loved bowling, gardening, fishing, deer hunting, and growing flowers.
Survivors include her husband, John, of Wauzeka; a daughter, Kori (Ryan) Kruser, of Monroe; three sons, John (Denise) Fields, of Benton, Jackie (Missy Kevorkian) Fields, of West Harrison, IN; and Timothy (Becky) Fields, of Dickeyville; two brothers, Douglas Birkett, of Lodi, and Paul S. Birkett, of Benton; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Raymond Fields, and her second husband, Gene Hornbeck; three brothers, Art, Robert and Calvin; and two sisters, Helen Freyhage and Dixie Tomlinson.
