Carl G. Thompson, age 82 of Wauzeka, passed away on Tuesday April 25, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. He was born November 13, 1934 in Leadmine Wisconsin. The son of Benjamin and Ida (Pratt) Thompson. After attending country grade school, he graduated from Cuba City High School in 1953. He worked at the Badger Ordinance Plant in Baraboo
Wi. for a short time until he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1954 until 1957 with 17 months in Korea. He married his High School Sweetheart Gloria Kienzle on June 15, 1957 in Cuba City. Carl lived and worked in Beloit from 1957 until his retirement in 1989. he started his career at the Beloit Iron Works and from there he went to work for the Omar Bread Company selling baked goods door to door. In 1959 he started his life insurance career with the Prudential Life Insurance company receiving he's Certified Life Underwriters' degree in 1985.
He was active in community affairs while living in Beloit, serving as PTA President, a member of the Kiwanis Club- being honored Kiwanian of the Year for community service in 1982 and 1988, on the Boys Club Board, Treasurer of Crime Stoppers, a member of Southwest Association of Life underwriters--and was awarded Man of the Year in 1987. He served on the First United Methodist Church Administrative Board
After retiring and moving to Wauzeka, he joined the American Legion and served as Commandter for ten years, he was also a member of the Wauzeka Lion's Club, Wauzeka Rod and Gun Club, Prairie du Chien Country Club, and the Wauzeka United Methodist Chuch. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his wife Gloria Thompson of Wauzeka. Two sons; Randall (Jayne) Thompson of McFarland, Gregory (Elizabeth) Thompson of Rochester Mn. Three Grandsons: Bryce Thompson of McFarland, Riley and Samuel Thompson both of Rochester Mn. A brother: Francis Thompson of La Valle. Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday May 6, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Wauzeka. Pastor Lynn Schreck officiating. Burial at a later date. Friends may call on Saturday May 6, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the United Methodist Church in Wauzeka. Military honors will be accorded by the Seeley-Onstine Post # 458 American Legion of Wauzeka. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the Wauzeka Rod and Gun Club, United Methodist Church of Wauzeka, Wauzeka Lions Club, or the Wauzeka American Legion.
