Candice Lu Kruszka of Thornton, IA died on March 20, 2015 at the age of 66 after a courageous 15 year battle with cancer.
Candice was born in Boscobel, WI, on November 16th 1948 to Carroll and Avonelle Glasbrenner.  She grew up in Marietta Valley.  She graduated high school in Boscobel in 1967 and went on to attend University of Wisconsin Platteville where she met her loving and devoted husband Alan.  Alan and Candice were married on March 9th, 1968 and recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.  Later in 1968, they welcomed their first child, Dulcie, followed by Ethan, Erika, Courtney, Quinten, and Jordan.
Candice was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and daughter.  She was the matriarch of her family whom she spent her life caring for.  Candice loved the arts and was gifted with creativity.  She enjoyed planning family parties and was a perfectionist with every last detail.  She will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness and ability to make her children and grandchildren feel special and loved.
Candice was diagnosed with advanced stage multiple myeloma in 2000.  Her fight was a difficult one, undergoing two stem cell transplants and countless other treatments.  She was a strong woman and rarely complained even when she was at her worst.  She did not let cancer stop her from living.  She continued caring for her beloved parents and doing things she loved like traveling and attending important events for her children and grandchildren throughout her illness.
Candice will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Alan; Children and grandchildren:  Dulcie, Amber, Blake (Naeve), and Logan Erickson of Belmond, IA; Ethan, Dobry, and Scout Kruszka of St. Paul, MN; Erika, Rob, Eden and Avonelle Fitzgerald of Des Moines, IA; Courtney, Ryan, Ashton, Ivy, and Cosette Willis of Oakdale, MN; Quinten, Rochelle, and Bijou Kruszka of St.Paul, MN; and Jordan Kruszka of Thornton, IA;  Sister-in-law: Sandy Glasbrenner of Boscobel, WI.  Nieces and nephews: Jeffrey and Elizabeth Glasbrenner of Colorado, Janelle and Julie Glasbrenner of Delevan, WI; Justin and Jamie Glasbrenner of Boscobel, WI; Jeremy and Jessica Glasbrenner of Boscobel, WI; and Jamie and Cody Adams of Boscobel, WI.
Candice was welcomed to heaven by her parents Carroll and Avonelle Glasbrenner; brother, Jeffrey Glasbrenner; sister, Jill Glasbrenner; and son-in-law, John Erickson.
