Carol Jean Marks ended her hard fought battle to pancreatic cancer on Monday, July 15, 2013 at her home in Boscobel, WI surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 14th, 1938 in Boscobel, WI. She was the second youngest of 10 children. While living in Madison, she met the love of her life, Glen “Tennessee” Marks. They were married for 55 years and shared a Valentine birthday. Tennessee preceded her in death on May 17, 2013.
Carol Jean had a soft heart, a smile for everyone, and dance moves that would clear the floor. She was a devout catholic of The Immaculate Conception Church and an avid Packer and Brewer fan. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and the “birthday club”, and she loved her special tradition of deer hunting weekend with her sisters, daughters, granddaughters, and nieces singing karaoke. Her greatest joy and accomplishment in life was being a stay at home mother where she raised a close knit family of 5 kids, 4 favorite in-laws, 12 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was the heart of the home and her door was always open to everyone.
She is survived by 1 son: Hershel (Deanna) Marks of Boscobel. 4 Daughters; Pamela (Tom) Waltz of Boscobel, Patsy Marks of Boscobel, Paula (Paul) Davis of Ridgeway, Penny (Corey) Grassel of Boscobel. 12 Grandchildren 1 Great-Granddaughter. 2 Sisters: Marian McKnight of Boscobel, Evelyn Calvert of Fennimore. Several Nieces and Nephews along with several Brother and Sister in Laws. She was preceded in death by her parents. 3 brothers Bernard "Red", James and Allen Elliott. 4 Sisters: Dorothy Kjos, Joanne Trumm, Annabelle Kauffman, Bernice Galer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday July 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. Father Peter Auer officiating. Burial in the Boscobel Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday July 18, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel,with a Rosary Service on Friday at 9:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home.
