Irene Mayers Baron Dienes
Irene Dienes, age 99, of Blue River, passed away on July 3, 2017, at Boscobel Gunderson Care and Rehab in Boscobel, WI. Irene was born in Chicago, IL, on December 9, 1917, to Stanley Mayers and Anna Rojek and enjoyed her two older half-brothers Joe and Frank.
In 1936, Irene married Anthony Baron Sr., who preceded her in death along with her two children, Anthony Robert Baron Jr. (Susan Baron Beach of Cottonwood, AZ) and Elaine Baron Cranmer (Charles Cranmer of Naperville, IL).
In 1955, she married Rudy E. Dienes and gained two more children, Gary Dienes (and Marie) of Crown Point, IN, and Nancy Dienes Malesky (and Bill) of Bolingbrook, IL, from this union. Rudy preceded Irene in death having passed in December 2016.
Together they cherished their eight grandchildren: Lisa, Kristin, Kari, Jennifer, Carolyn, Sandy, Mark, and Brad. Nine great-grandchildren rounded out the rest of the family.  Irene just missed welcoming her great, great-grandson due in August.
Irene led a full life of 99 years. During a time when working women were not the norm, she became an entrepreneur by opening a beauty parlor and later a neighborhood bar on the near-north side of Chicago. She possessed a remarkable green thumb, was an amazing cook, and a life-long, voracious reader.
A child of immigrant parents, Irene believed that education was a ticket to a better life. She encouraged and was so very proud of each of her children’s, step-children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s academic achievements.
After marrying Rudy, the couple spent many years in their home on Mobile Avenue in Chicago. When Rudy decided to retire, they spent a short time in Arlington Heights before moving to Blue River, WI. Irene’s brother, Joe, had started a house on 14 acres there when he returned from WW2. She and Rudy finished the home and cherished the past 30+ years in this beautiful part of Wisconsin. Irene joined Rudy in his American Legion and VFW activities and together they made many lasting friendships along the way. Thank you to all who helped them remain in the home and place they loved!

I would like to extend my sympathy for the loss of a great lady. I had the privilege of knowing both her and Rudy for several years. She was kind, funny, and a joy to be around. My thoughts are with you at the time or your loss.

I was so sorry to learn of Irene's passing. She and Rudy were wonderful friends to my parents. They cherished their friendship and the fun times they had at the ARD-12 reunions. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting either of them in person, I enjoyed our phone calls and emails. I will miss them both. Sending wishes for peace and comfort to all of their family and friends.
