Posted by: Madelyn Roote Sat April 07, 2012 | Dear Lorenzo and Josie, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom passing.
Every time I think of her I am taken back to her keeping us all together at Shoemaker Chapel and I smile. I especially loved the nativity that she donated to the Church and I always looked forward to it being displayed every year at Christmas. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. Love & Prayers, Madelyn & Jim |

Posted by: Fran Cooper Mon April 09, 2012 | There is no doubt to those who knew her – Jane was a believer – a believer in God’s goodness – God’s presence - God’s love. I knew she understood that divine Presence as she lived it out in her world. As a grandmother and mother, she was a fortress. She was a rock who could be counted on, turned to, leaned on, and who provided constant caring support.
As her Pastor for several years, I enjoyed the privilege to receive her smile and her encouragement and support as she attended weekly worship with her daughter, Josie, and granddaughter, Jessica. The three of them were a team, and Jane was clearly a primary team-leader. She was a good mom and grandmother . I read a poem that reminds me of her: A mother laughs out laughter, Sheds our tears, returns our love, fears our fears. She lives our joys, cares our cares, And all our hopes and dreams she shares. These words describes a mother and grandmother who is always THERE for you. Yes, there are some days, surely, when you wish they didn’t quite expect so much out of you, or so those little things that “get” to you. But she is THERE, and that means so very much. The scripture from Isaiah 43 is a great comfort to us today. It reminds us of the Godly love from which this motherly love Jane lived flows: “He who created you…He who formed you says, ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.’” This text is a reminds us of who we are – we are God people and God is ours. Especially during dark seasons such as this time of grief, it helps to remember that God knows us by name. In all times and all seasons, we are known. This passage also reminds us that there is nothing to be fear. We need not be overwhelmed even in the face of death, for we are “precious;” we are “honored;” we are “loved” (v. 4). God, who made us is the God who calls us also. And in all seasons, and all times, God says, “You are mine,” (v. 1). Jane believed this. Because of her strong faith and good life, shared as a mother and as a grandmother, but also, as a child of God, she is all new now. In our sadness that she is missed, we do give thanks that she is now truly, not only comforter and giver, but that she is comforted and receives, at last, knows new and eternal rest and life. |
