Our deepest sympathy to Edward, Cathy, Casey, Julie, Tom and the whole extended family with your loss.  Your grief is shared by many who also celebrate a life committed to overcome obstacles and serving her community, friends and even strangers.  Marian led a remarkable life and had a habit of improving whatever was around her or encountered.  We have all been blessed
by Marian's life as will so many others in the future.  That includes many who might never even have known her as her contributions to Trenton and Grundy County continue to be passed on to new generations.  A remarkable woman and a great friend to so many.

My condolences to the family.  I am from Morning Sun, IA close to Columbus Junction where she was born.  I met her when she wintered in TX.  A group of us from Morning Sun visted Marian several times in Trenton and we have kept in touch for years.  She was a very special lady and a joy to know.
She will be missed by many.  Bev Karagin

Ed & family, Marian was a wonderful lady and dearly loved by all her students. She was strict, but loved her students and went out of her way to make learning fun. She was soooooooooooooo Cool!!  Those that were fortunate enough to have her as their home room teacher got to dance (rock and roll) to the popular songs in her classroom on special occations. I was one of those fortunate students. I loved her. RIP Mrs. McCarty.
